Special Ikebana Exhibit - "Flowers Are... East & West"
in honor Judith Setsuko Hata, Riji - Sogetsu School

and presented by the Sogetsu Wasetsu Group

in cooperation with Ikebana International New York Chapter #7

Featured will be arrangements by Mrs. Hata, Her Wasetsu students as well as leading artists from other ikebana schools. This multi-school exhibition commemorates the occasion of the Japanese government awarding Mrs. Hata with the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays. This award recognizes her lifelong promotion of mutual cultural understanding between Japan and the U.S. through ikebana.  The exhibit title, "Flowers Are ... East and West", also reflects her passion of "learning and sharing ikebana on a journey with many friends along the way."

Metropolitan Museum of Art - Japanese Bamboo Art: The Abbey Collection: arrangements using select bamboo containers from the Abbey Collection by Judith S. Hata (Sogetsu), Hazue Tamura-Rogers (Sogetsu), and Beverly Hashimoto (Ohara) will be on display with this exhibit. June 13 - February 4, 2018.
